Indian premier league governing body introducing the Elimination match for the first time in IPL 2011 season four. Due to the addition of two extra teams and change in the draws of the IPL season 4 they also changed structure of Finals qualifiers, instead of having quarter finals, semifinal matches for deciding the Final contenders.
IPL governing body introducing the new structure were the top two teams in IPL twenty20 2011 will have a qualifier match were the Winner will directly move to IPL 2011 Finals. Their will be an Elimination final match between the 3rd and 4th team in the IPL 2011 points table. Here the Elimination final match is between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.
The winner of this Elimination final match will play the looser of the 1st qualifier match i.e Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The Elimination final match between MI and KKR played at Wankhede Stadium.
